Welcome one and all to my blog. I am InquiringMind and as my name would suggest I am a curious person, by nature. The goal of my blog is to inquire about many of lives curiosities of mine and others who wanna know about things. I look forward to reading peoples answer and replies to my questions and other JUer comments. I plan on posting twice a week every Wednesday and Saturday. Questions will cover random categories ranging from Art to Writing (any of joeuser.com's categories) but to make them easy to find I will confine my articles to the Blogging category of joeuser.com. Feel free to drop a comment anytime on the subject, there is always someone out there inquires know what others think about the curiosity of each article. So lets get this show started with my first question.

Inquiring Minds Wanna Know,

Considering that prostitution is legal in most countries around the world with some restrictions and requirements in some places and seems to be a money making underground business here in the US:

Should prostitution be legal in the US?

This curiosity comes from the recent scandal of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer (soon to be former) who by doing "suspicious financial transactions" that the FBI was investigating was found to be involved in a prostitution ring where it is alleged he has been using the services of prostitutes at the tune of thousands of dollars a day.

Did you know?

Nevada is one of only two U.S. states that allow some legal prostitution; in most of its counties, brothels are legalized and heavily regulated. (In Rhode Island, the act of sex for money is not illegal, but street solicitation and operation of a brothel are.) Link

And no, my curiosity is not about prostitution but about the question in the article. Just in case.

Well, I say yes too, even though I don't live in the US. Prostitution is legal in Australia. Another reason why we're called the lucky country

Thank you LW. But you will eventually find out I am not as new around here as I sound. I'm sure you'll figure it out but believe me when I say I am not trying topass myself as someone else. Thank you anyways though.

Now, may I ask why you believe it should be legalized? Just curious.

I may have to agree with the "lucky country" part though I am not too fond of giving money for sex. Well not large quantities of money anyways.

I'm just trying something new.

I'm thinking that it's better if it's legal and there are precautions taken for health etc.  My opinion is that if it's between consenting adults, who is it hurting?

If prostitution becomes legal, then...when will you know when a prostitute reaches retirement age?

I'd like to see if insurance, 401K and W-2 forms forms for this kind of work.

Can you imagine insurance, 401K and W-2 forms for this line of work?

Glad you added the footnote. It is legal in the United states, just not in most states.

And why? Well, this is a strange country. The only country to tell GB to get lost - and make it stick. Yet the only country that banned booze for a non-religious reason - and then repeal the ban. So the Why probably is unfathomable. The when is when they unionize. Nothing helps a cause like the AFL-CIO.
